Godrej has launched its entire television range in Tamil Nadu in a bid to expand its pan India presence, earlier we had spoken about Godrej's plan to sell Tvs across the country.

Post the companies commercial launch of their televisions they have been slowly increasing their pan India presence to achieve their 5% market share target.

Kamal Nandi, executive vice president, marketing and sales, Godrej appliances, said, "With our expertise in high technology manufacturing, we are well poised to give the Indian consumer a revolutionary viewing experience."

"Tamil Nadu is an excellent market for televisions and we are looking forward to the continued support and patronage of our customers here", he added.

Godrej Tv's Chennai launch commenced the third phase of their launch plan and the company expects their pan India presence to be completed in two years time.

The company sold over 1.5 lakh units last year in the four States where it was present. This year the company is targeting three lakh units, this increase will be boosted with its presence in three more States.

Godrej TV Plans a Pan India Launch

After two years of test marketing and slowly expanding its base in the country, Godrej Appliances is finally ready to push its televisions sets into homes all around the country.

Kamal Nandi, vice president, sales and marketing, Godrej Appliances, said, "Market expansion plans for our television business will be implemented from April, 2011, and the pan-India market expansion will be completed in the first three months of next fiscal year." Although the company plans on launching its televsions all around the country simultaneously.

The India launch will also be powered with a range of new products entering the market. The company is eager to capture 5% of the televison market in the first year of its commercial launch.

Since the initial launch phase in September 2008 the company managed to capture five percent market share in Kerala and Maharashtra excluding Mumbai and three percent in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

Currently the company imports its LCD panels from Turkey, but is considering manufacturing these panels in house if the demands increase. Considering 70% of the cost of the LCD television is due to the panel, this move could drastically pull down the cost and increase demand as well in future.

Godrej Introduces Eon Gaming LCD TV

Following the official launch of its Eon range of LCD TVs, Godrej Appliances has announced a new product, a gaming TV with Motion Sensing Technology targeting kids and young adults. Called the Game LCD TV, it is built on the lines of a Playstation and XBox 360 and is pre-loaded with 25 games.

Priced at Rs 40,000, Game LCD TV is being test marketed in Kolkata initially, followed by a test run in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Godrej plans to officially roll-out the gaming product across the country by 2011.

Providing further information, Kamal Nandi, vice president, sales and marketing, Godrej Appliances said, "The combination of advanced interface and engaging game play with motion sensing broadens our appeal to all members of the family. The main difference is that there is no separate device required and the product has all the normal features of an LCD TV."

Godrej Eon TVs Set for Commercial Launch

Happy with the outcome of their testing phase of the companies television sets in Andhra Pradesh, and a good response from the three additional states that the company had tested its Eon TV range in.

According to a recent article published in the Business Standard Godrej plans on commercially launching its Eon range of Colour TVs, LCD and LED televisions across the country.

The television market in India is currently dominated by LG and Samsung. Each with a market share of around 25% in this segment. While Videocon is close with a 22% share and Onida comes in next with 11%.

The market leaders have an excellent delivery and service network that Godrej will have to replicate to get a decent market share. Lets hope the trusted brand name works for the company in this segment as well.

Godrej Expanding Presence in Country

After starting off with its eon televison launch in Andhra Pradesh in September 2008 the company has finally laid out its road map for expanding its presence in the country.

According to George Menezes, the next launch of the Eon LED TVs were scheduled in some parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal and Kerala shortly. The company plans of covering more states within six months time.

The Godrej Group, is targeting a sales turnover of Rs 300 crore from its entire range of TVs in the 2010-11 fiscal from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal and Maharashtra.

According to Kamal Nandi, vice president, sales and marketing, Godrej Appliances, said, "The company aims to sell about 3 to 3.5 lakh units this fiscal from the four states."

The size of the television market nationwise is Rs 15,000 crore, and Kerala amounts to Rs 600 crore. In Kerala, Godrej has a target of about 60,000 units this fiscal, the state has recorded over 200 per cent growth in LCDs, the highest in the country.

Currently the LCD and LED TVs are imported, but the company may start manufacturing in India once it spreads its reach across the country. The company aims at capturing a 10 per cent market share in the next 12 months and be among the top three players in Kerala.

Soon Godrej Eon's will be a Television option for people across the country.

Godrej Launches the Eon LED TV

Godrej, has expanded its range of televisions by introducing Godrej Eon LED TVs in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Not only has it introduced LED TVs but it also introduced its line of current LCD and CRT TVs that the company sells.

The new range of Eon LED TVs come with a range of features, apart from being equipped with advanced LED TV engine the TVs have a 10 bit HDP processor that has advanced flesh tone and a multi-colour enhancement that boosts the video quality.

The new Godrej Eon LED TV is a 32-inch model (GL32T43KAB) that comes embedded with a HDTV/VGA encoder. It produces a perfect high bandwidth input signal that the company claims brings images to life making TV viewing a refreshingly different experience.

Godrej’s Eon range of LEDs and LCD TVs come with a five star energy rating and would be available across the State at a price of Rs 18,000 to Rs 62,000 from April 2010. The Godrej CRT TVs would be available with in a price range of Rs 5,600 to Rs 9,300.

Preity Zinta Brand Ambassador for Eon TVs

Godrej and Boyce has roped in Preity Zinta, the Bollywood actress as the brand ambassador for its appliances division.

The actress will be promoting the entire range of appliances the company manufactures but major focus will be on the EON line of products.

Godrej to Set up TV Factory in Himachal

In its bid to gear up for the nation wide distribution, Godrej Appliances plan to invest Rs 120 crore to set up a television facility for its Eon range in Himachal Pradesh by the middle of next year.

The consumer durable unit of privately held Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co, is close to finalising a location in Himachal for setting up a television factory with annual capacity of around four lakh units. Currently the TV sets are being produced in a small factory near Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

Godrej forayed into the colour television market in September last year with the launch of its EON range of XLCDs and CRT models in Andhra Pradesh, initially. The company claims to have sold 35,000 sets across the two categories in Andhra Pradesh since its launch. The expansion in the television space will be met through a mix of debt and internal accruals

George Menezes, chief operating officer, Godrej Appliances, said, "Response from consumers in Andhra Pradesh where we launched the products first have been good so far, which is why we are planning to have a pan-India presence in the category next year." He further added that the company is targeting 30% growth in revenues from durable goods to reach Rs 1,700 crore for the year ending March 2010.

Its not only the recession that is slowing down the TV sales in Andhra Pradesh and forcing Godrej to defer to their all India launch, but specifically the negative outcome of an election gimmick by N Chandrababu Naidu of the Telegu Desam Party.

The former Andhra Pradesh chief minister has promised free colour televisions, in a bid to lure voters this elections. This has actually created a slump in the market with people waiting for their free television sets.

Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company, had started tesitng the markets response to its LCD TVs in the state in October 2008, and put together with the economic slowdown this has put things off track.

According to Kamal Nandi, vice president, sales and marketing, Godrej Appliances, "The second phase scheduled for early 2009 has slipped off the track due to de-growth in AP. It is also because of the slowdown, the company deferred its pan-Indian launch till the second quarter of this fiscal."

Godrej has invested 150 crores in its Uttarkhand manufacturing facility with its alliance with a European company. Lets hope the company gains ground quick enough to launch the Eon range of LCDs throughout the country!

Godrej Looking to Capture 10% Market Share

Godrej recently forayed into the Rs 9,000 crore Indian television market with their Eon range of colour televisions. The company who has a trusted brand name in India wants to capture 10 per cent of the market in the first year itself and they plan on doing this with aggressive marketing.

The company has allocated around Rs 5 in brand communication with their latest venture in the Eon segment. George Menezes, chief operating officer, Godrej Appliances, told televisionpoint.com, "Orchard Advertising is our creative agency and we are looking at 360-degree brand communication activities around our new product that includes a lot of ground activation, shop-in-shop, outdoor communication in addition to radio, television and print advertising. Godrej Eon television is positioned as a lifestyle product and we are targeting upwardly mobile and progressive Indians."

Orchard Advertising had conducted researches asking people if they would purchase a television manufactured by Godrej, keeping in mind that the company is mainly known as a home appliance manufacturer. The response was overwhelming as people associate the Godrej brand with quality, trust and value.

Kaushik Mitra, senior vice-president and brand partner, Orchard Advertising, said, "Not everybody at Godrej is into aerospace and in the commercial for television, we have shown how an aerospace scientist uses technology to clean the images. While the teaser campaign was already there before the launch, the television campaign was launched on September 12."

In the next six months the Godrej Eon Televison range will be made national and the company plans on spending around Rs 60 crore in advertising and promotion. Godrej has tied up with a Europe based LCD manufacturer that will invest Rs 150 crore in the venture. The company is targeting sales of 100,000 Eon Television units in a year.

Godrej Launches LCD TVs Starting at Rs 6500

Godrej Appliances, the flagship division of the $3-billion Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co Limited, entered the Indian colour television market, the largest business in the durable sector, by launching its EON range of XLCDs. Godrej has unveiled 13 models priced between Rs 6,500 to Rs 70,000, and is aiming to sell 100,000 units.

Using 'Intelligent Processing for Image Excellence' (iPIX), Godrej claims to be the first company to use this technology that will show an improvement in video images. The iPIX technology is similar to what is in remote sensing satellites to receive input signals and clean them by reducing noise levels, improves sharpness and clarity.

George Menezis, COO, Godrej Appliances, said, "Godrej has always focused its efforts on innovative design and technology aimed at delivering the most efficient and enjoyable products for the masses. Godrej has rich knowledge and years of experience in aerospace technology and we have garnered this expertise to give the Indian consumer a revolution in TV viewing."

The 32-inch LCD TV would have two models in a price range of Rs 42,000 to Rs 45,000

The 42-inch LCD TV would cost Rs 70,000

Eyeing a 10% share within one year of its operations of this Rs 9,000-crore market, Eon range has been launched in Andhra Pradesh and will be rolled out across India in a phased manner.

The company is also planning an advertising and marketing campaign highlighting the 'cleaner images' through iPIX technology, using various media channels and customer demo/education initiatives.
